National Drug-Related Deaths Index (NDRDI)

The National Drug-Related Deaths Index is an epidemiological database which records drug- and alcohol-related deaths, and deaths among people who used drugs and among alcohol dependent persons in Ireland. **Purpose:** Epidemiological monitoring of drug- and alcohol-related deaths, and deaths among people who use drugs and among alcohol dependent persons in Ireland. The objective of the Index is to provide high quality data so that the State can respond in a timely manner with accurate data on drug-related mortality. Does not include deaths caused by the drug or alcohol use of another person if the deceased does not meet the NDRDI inclusion criteria above. Does not include deaths due to medical misadventure **Coverage:** National coverage. Data is collected annually. Example of temporal coverage: 2017 data was collected between September 2018 to May 2019 and published in December 2019.
